NADIS
Sanskrit for channel and is the system of the yogic body through which flows the vital energy or prana. There are 3 main Nadis called the: Ida, Pingla, Shushumna, but there are actually 72,000 minor nadis supplying the body. All are said to originate in the heart.
The primary three are centered around the spine.
Ida: to the left of the spine, representing moon energy, white, vital breath, semen, rising energy, Shiva or male.
Pingala: to the left of the spine, respresenting the sun energy, red, blood, ovum, descending energy, Shakti, female.
Shushumna: the central channel which creates a union for the the other two. Representing fire.
When the kundalini energy raises from the lower spine area to the crown chakra or top of the head, it is directly associated with the flow of these channels .
