NADIS
Sanskrit for channel and is the system of the yogic body through which flows the vital energy or prana. There are 3 main Nadis called the: Ida, Pingla, Shushumna, but there are actually 72,000 minor nadis supplying the body. All are said to originate in the heart.
The primary three are centered around the spine.
Ida: to the left of the spine, representing moon energy, white, vital breath, semen, rising energy, Shiva or male.
Pingala: to the left of the spine, respresenting the sun energy, red, blood, ovum, descending energy, Shakti, female.
Shushumna: the central channel which creates a union for the the other two. Representing fire.
When the kundalini energy raises from the lower spine area to the crown chakra or top of the head, it is directly associated with the flow of these channels .

MOKSHA
This is the sanskrit term to mean liberation. It refers to the freedom from needing to reincarnate on the earth plane again and the ultimate merging with the  Divine or Brahma.
According to the Hindu texts we are on a continuous cycle of lifetime after lifetime learning the lessons that we do on this planet. At one point, we finally become realized and are released from this cycle. Nobody is excluded, by the way, we might be on different parts of the journey but this moksha is open to all souls.
In vedic astrology, there are areas of the chart that rule the moksha concept of one´s life.
When one turns to one´s spirituality we are seeking to free ourselves from being overly attached to our emotions which can cause us so much pain. This is one step towards moksha.

Krishnamurti
THE SAGE WHO WOULDN'T BE GURU

Krishnamurti was a guru who never wanted to be one. What he taught stemmed from his personal realization: that truth cannot be reached by any path, religion or sect. To find it, the seeker must strive to ascend to it through his discovery. It is possible by casting aside past conditioning, and stilling thought that impedes awareness of what is.

Had he not abdicated, the throne of the biggest spiritual guru of modern
times would have been his. While other gurus struggle to build their organizations,
a worldwide platform, The Order of the Star of the East, was offered to
Jiddu Krishnamurti on a platter by Theosophical Society chieftains Annie Besant
and H.W. Leadbeater. They had groomed him since childhood to be a ready vehicle
for Lord Maitreya to incarnate. The twist in their script came when Krishnamurti
had a profound spiritual awakening.

What he later taught stemmed from his personal realization: that truth cannot
be reached by any path, religion or sect. To find it, the seeker must strive to
ascend to it through his own discovery. It is possible by casting aside past
conditioning, and stilling thought that impedes awareness of what is.

By 1930, Krishnamurti had dissociated himself from the Order and the
Theosophical Society.
Ironically, though he had refused messiah hood, he went on to become a
world-renowned teacher, giving talks occasioned by profound insights into
the deepest questions of humanity. He never quoted earlier masters, nor
threw the scriptures at you. His style, his compassion and the psychological
nature of his inquiry are reminiscent of the Buddha.

A sage-like figure, Krishnamurti died in 1986 in Ojai, USA, at the
age of 91.
Today, Krishnamurti Foundations continue to disseminate his teachings,
and the seven Krishnamurti schools—five in India, set up at his
behest—offer his approach to learning and self-discovery. The following
excerpt has been taken from Krishnamurti's Commentaries on Living.

´JYOTISHA¨´
The ancient vedic texts are divided into Vedangas, or limbs. Each limb is then categorized further into divisions. Each vedanga deals with a signfigant area of dealing with life on earth.
The limb called Jyotisha, means -the science of light.
This is fascinating given that light is energy and everything in our universe is made of light. Within jyotisha, we find the origins of knowledge. Jyotisha is divided into the following beautiful sanskrit terms
-Gola-astronomy
-Ganita-mathematics
-Jataka-birth chart calculation
-Prasna-a question that can be derived from a chart
-Mahurtha-48hrs-planning that can be derived by looking at a chart of the future
-Namita-omens

Omens comes in because once we become totally tuned to our energetic universe it becomes totally interactive. It is normally, but given a higher level of consciousness it only becomes more of a mirror.

A Vedic Astrologer, or Jyotishi, is meant to be totally nonjudgemental, and to be one that is able to interpret the language of the stars coming from clear space.

Astrology is the language that describes energy. It is the language of energy, and cycles.

"ISHVARA"
Sanskrit for God, basically. The supreme creator is referred to as Ishvara, the other Hindu Gods and Goddesses are classifed more as Devas. The same term is used in Buddhism, however remember that Buddhism is derived from Hinduism.
Veldanta , or the philosophy behind the Vedas' spends a lot of time on the subject of Ishvara. The real intership in India is 12 yrs studying this subject!
When referring to God in the feminine Isvara is used. Now there's a ancient progressive concept.
Comparable to "Yahweh" in Judeism.
Ishvara for the male form of the supreme Creator
Isvara for the female form of the supreme Creator.
Sanskrit is said to be a spiritual language, so just to repeat this word will raise your vibration and connection.

"HINDUISM"
The word Hindu actually comes from the word INDOO and is used to describe the tribe of people that lived in the Saraswati valley of northern India. Nobody knows forsure how long ago these Indoo people inhabited the valley, studies are taking them back as far as 8,000yr at this point. The most fascinating aspect of this people is that they never left any weapons. Their culture was based on knowledge and they left the oldest recorded information on the plant called the VEDAS, written in the oldest language in the world called sanskrit. Veda means, "knowledge". In these various manuscripts written on leaves, we find the origin Yoga, Ayurveda, Tantra,Jyotisha and more. These limbs of the Vedas are called Vedanga's and contain information that is advanced by today's standards. Ayur-Veda, for example, means the knowledge of Life, and includes incredible directions on how to take care of the body through diet, excersize, and healing techniques. Jyotisha, means the ,'the science of light', and is the origins of astrology, astronomy, mathematics and astrology.
The main thing to remember is that all the information dealt with YOGA, which means to "yoke". Concern was constantly returning to the idea of aligning or yoking with the Divine Energy of Creation. Call it God if you like, called Atma, call it whatever you like, the Indoo people created many different names for the Divine.
Eventually with time the name Indoo became Hindu and transfered into a religion. We must remember that most of the religions that are followed on the planet today only began within the last 2000 years. Hinduism is the oldest.
Yoga Colonies preferres to look at Hinduism as a belief structure based on spiritual knowledge that can encompass all people.
Because Yoga orginiated in the Vedas we find our body of knowledge in what is now called Hinduism.

John Friend-Anusara Yoga
Everyone I know in the world of yoga is talking about  and taking workships on John Friend's technique of Anusara Yoga. His focus is on the heart chakra. If your heart is open, and if you have a greater awareness of how you can open our heart during yoga practise and keep it open throughout the day you will simply be in a better place in your life.
He also leads us into a greater awareness of the back of our body vs. the front of the body . Taking time during yoga practise to increase awareness of opening the back of the body also strengthens your practise and allows the front to open more.
Becoming more aware of the heart centre will allow you to take a more gentle approach to life and all of it's tough situations. Yoga colonies recognizes and thanks John Friend for his contribution to modern yoga.
John is a Texan who left a career in finance to study with  Iyengar and eventually developed his own style of Anusara.
Anusara, emphasises,"open heartedness and loving kindness" while stressing alignment.
